BashBall League Operations

The 2024 BashBall Fall League begins on Sunday, September 8th at College Park High School. Here's the overview for the season:

  • Season: The BashBall Fall League at College Park High School's football stadium runs for nine weeks starting Sunday, September 8th. All teams will practice and play every week regardless of their seeding in the BashBall Playoffs and World Series.
  • Practices and Games: All BashBall practices and games are on the same day - parents only need to allocate 90 minutes of availability each week for their child's involvement in the program. Practice (30 minutes) takes place immediately prior to a participant's scheduled game (60 minutes).
  • Team Rosters: BashBall teams are comprised of up to 9 players, with limited exceptions on a case by case basis. Players are placed on rosters with their requested friends and/or grade level classmates. Each team is coached by a high school or college student-athlete and supported by a parent volunteer.
  • Season Fees: The BashBall season fee is $300 per player. This includes a full season of practice and play, plus a custom jersey and hat.
  • Ages: BashBall is open to boys and girls in 1st-8th grades in the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Parent Volunteers: Each BashBall team needs 1 or 2 parent volunteers to help assist the team coach on the field on Sundays.

BashBall Prep

Signed up for BashBall and getting ready for Opening Day? Here's a few things to know to help prepare:

WHERE TO GO:
All BashBall practices/games are at the football field at the College Park High School main stadium.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Players can wear baseball/softball pants, shorts, or athletic sweats - whatever they feel most comfortable in. We will provide a team jersey and hat for every player. Players can choose to wear cleats or athletic shoes.

WHAT TO BRING:
Players should bring their glove, bat, and a bottle of water. Please label all gear in case something gets misplaced. (If your child doesn't have a bat, it's no problem as we have plenty of extras.)

WHAT TO EXPECT AT PRACTICE:
Practices are 30 minutes long and take place immediately before games. Our league directors, high school coaches and parent volunteers will teach players the skill of the week and lead players through various skill drills. Practices will be high-tempo but low-stress, so players will build confidence, improve their skills, and get excited for the upcoming game.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT GAMES:
BashBall games take place on the College Park football field and are 50 minutes long and 5 full innings. Your child's team will play a different team in their grade level each week and we will keep score and maintain league standings. Games will be ultra competitive but also extremely positive and fun. Because of our small teams, timed innings, and no dead-time, every player will get 20+ at-bats and defensive opportunities per game.

WHAT ELSE TO KNOW:
Please bring water for your child and don't forget to have them apply sunscreen before they arrive. Also for health and safety reasons, you or an authorized adult must remain on site while your child is practicing and playing.

BashBall Game Rules

Here are the rules of BashBall:

SET-UP

  • BashBall is played on a rectangular field (sized appropriately for each grade level) that has three different zones for players to defend.
  • BashBall fields are set up in one quarter of a high school football field.

OFFENSE

  • The offensive team has 5 minutes to get as many at-bats as possible.
  • Each hitter gets two pitches maximum per at-bat. These are front-toss pitches from their coach.
  • Hitters earn runs by hitting the ball through the defense and into or past the three zones. The further they hit it, the more runs they collect.
  • There is no baserunning.

DEFENSE

  • 6 players are stationed on defense at a time, 2 players per defensive zone.
  • Defensive players earn outs by catching line drives, pop outs, and fly balls.
  • Defensive players prevent runs by stopping balls from reaching the next defensive zone.

SCORING

  • The offensive team has five minutes to get as many at bats and runs as possible based on the distance the ball travels:
    • Hit it into the 1-Run Box and earn one run.
    • Hit it into the 2-Run Box and earn two runs.
    • Hit it into the Slam Box on the ground and earn three runs.
    • Hit it into the Slam Box in the air and earn four runs.
  • Lose a run for every out a hitter makes. Outs are made by:
    • Not putting the ball in play after two pitches.
    • Hitting a ball that is caught in the air.
    • Hitting a ball that does not get past the Bash Line and never reaches the 1-Run Box.

BashBall Field Location

In 2024, all BashBall practices and games are located at College Park High School (201 Viking Dr, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523). Parking is available in the main parking lot, and practices/games are played on the main football field in the College Park High School Football Stadium.
